Dear Friends, I am happy to share with you Economic Empowerment for Women's first quarterly newsletter, which is being sent to our friends and supporters in Israel, North America, Europe and Australia. EEW is now entering its second decade of activity. Our dreams from the late 1990's, of an organization that would affect positive change and bring new hope to Israeli low income women has led to EEW's serving over 3,000 through a variety of programs and services. Over 1,500 micro enterprises, spread throughout Israel, provide a sense of pride and economic empowerment to those women who established them.
Over the next decade, EEW will focus its resources - professional, emotional, political and social, to raising the profits of micro enterprises. We are confident that this is possible and in order to meet this aim, EEW has developed a series of business development programs aimed at expanding and growing one's business. EEW strives to identify new trends and needs among our clientele. We have often taken risks in developing new initiatives and programs that haven't been tried in Israel in order to create models that can be replicated on an organizational and institutional level. EEW is currently developing new Business Incubators and Asset Development/Financial Literacy programs that are the first of its kind and we hope they will be adapted by other social agencies. We act through a lens that takes into consideration the cultural, social and political differences among the women we serve. Our staff deals with these issues through constant dialogue and learning. We have much to share, learn and even improve. We would be happy to receive your comments and feedback.
EEW would like to use this newsletter to keep you updated on events, programs, and partners. Please open EEW's 2009 Annual Report that includes program updates, personal stories and financial information. We invite you to send your comments, feedback and questions. None of this would have been possible without your friendship, support and belief in our work over the last decade. The best possible end to this new beginning is to say Thank you - and please pass this on to friends! Ayelet Ilany, Director of Economic Empowerment for Women
